Google Business Profile (GBP), previously called Google My Business, is a free tool that helps businesses share their information directly on Google. This profile can show details like your business address, contact number, hours, and photos, making it easier for customers to find and contact your business.
What Has Changed?
In recent updates, Google made managing your business profile easier. You no longer need a separate app (Google My Business app) to make changes. Now, you can update your business details directly from Google Search or Maps.
Starting from November 21, 2024, any business that wants to use Local Services Ads (special ads that show up in local searches) must have a verified Google Business Profile. This new rule is meant to make sure only real businesses can run ads, helping people find trustworthy businesses nearby.
How Does This Affect Your Business?
These changes offer a few benefits:
No. If you already had a Google My Business account, it automatically became a Google Business Profile. You don’t need to create a new one, but make sure your profile is verified, especially if you plan to use Local Services Ads.
