A Step-by-Step Guide to Adding Your Business to the Map on Instagram

Step 1: If you haven’t already, this is the very first step to switch your Instagram account to a business account.

Follow these three simple steps:

1. Tap the three horizontal lines in the top right corner of your profile
2. Go to “Settings & Privacy” and then “Account type and tool”
3. Tap on “Switch to Professional Account” and set up your business profile

Step 2: Instagram business accounts are linked to Facebook Business Pages. Ensure your Instagram account is connected to the Facebook Page associated with your business.

Step 3: Ensure that your phone’s location services are turned on. Instagram and Facebook uses this information to tag your business location on the map.

Step 4: Log in to your Facebook and start a new post. Within the post creation options, locate and tap on “Check In.” Ensure that you have allowed the app to use your location for this feature.

Step 5: In the “Check In” screen, use the search bar to find your business or the location you want to add. Scroll through the results until you find the correct place.

Step 6: Once you have selected the correct location, scroll down and tap “Add” to create a new place. Fill out essential details such as the place name, address, and city.’

Step 7: Ensure that the map pin accurately represents the location of your business. Adjust the pin if necessary to pinpoint the exact spot.

Step 8: After confirming all the details, tap “Save Custom Place” to add the location to your list of places on Facebook.

Step 9: Use the Location on Instagram (This integration will take a few days or weeks to reflect from Facebook to Instagram)
